Traffic Problem in Pune

The solution is provided by nature.
The rivers Mula- Mutha run through the most important and posh areas of Pune like: Starting from Magarpatta, Koregaon Park, Kalayani Nagar, Near Railway Station, Deccan Area, Shaniwar Wada, Laxmi Road, Navi Peth, Dattavadi are few of them. The river is quite wide and is dry for most of the times. So we can build a four lane road (or even six) on the river (like flyover or a bridge) which will run throughout the entire length of the river. This will solve the traffic crisis of Pune for years. Moreover while building the entire flyover the regular traffic will not be disturbed as the major portion of the flyover is on the river. The flyover on the river can be connected to other parts of the city which are far using more flyovers thus reducing the time taken in long distance travel to almost 1/5th of the current time.

Advantages:
 No disturbance to current traffic
 Project can be easily divided into parts and be started in many part simultaneously thus taking very less time to complete
 Many national and international builders will be ready to take up the project
 Many organizations will be ready to fund the project
 Will reduce the travelling time to almost 1/5th of current time
 Will completely eliminate the problem of traffic jam and congestion from Pune

Possible Problems:
 Over flow of the river during rainy season
o When we have bridges which are around 50 to 100 years old and can easily tolerate the rainy seasons then using the new age technology and material the rainy season doesn’t seems to be a big problem.
 Cash Problems
o The growth of the city will stop in few years if the traffic problem is not solved and any good solution to traffic problem should not be put off or delayed due to funds.
 Project is relatively big.
 Effect on environment
o There may be some harmful effect on the environment and we may have to cut some trees and flow of the dry river may get disturbed but if this project is implemented then it will stop a lot of pollution caused by running engines in traffic jams.

(I Nitin Jain am Executive Director of www.the3iportal.com The aforesaid solution has been provided by one of our users and as per him he has contacted Mayor, or the Chief Minister of the state but even after mailing it to them there was no response from their side. If someone can get this message across a competent authority and get a reply, I think we will have done our respective contribution as resposible citizens of India).
